Like it but didn't love it。I really enjoyed this book until around 80%。 We have romance, magicians, family secrets and curse! Wardens fighting people's dreams, that was nice concept。 Even if it was slow pace I got involed in the story and all the plot twists! But the last 20% felt like there was no good idea for the ending and it was different story。 People were dying like flies, without any single emotions。 "Is he dead?" "Och, that's ok"。 I also didn't understand the magic system and I still do Like it but didn't love it。I really enjoyed this book until around 80%。 We have romance, magicians, family secrets and curse! I absolutely loved this book! The author’s voice entrapped me almost instantly and I adored the rivalry and romance of the main characters。 The magic and plot was original which was really fun。 The main conflict near the end was page-turningly interesting without being harrowing and depressing。 A top tier fantasy romance!

Really enjoyed this one! Excellent world building and storytelling。 I thought the overall idea was super original, too, which I've been struggling to find in YA fantasy lately。 I really loved the Phaelan / Clementine dynamic, although the enemies-t0-lovers feel did overpower the story for me a little bit at times。 I would have loved more backstory or even POV from the wraiths。 Just as a personal note, I hated that they all called Clementine Clem, because I just picture a 70 year old miner from m Really enjoyed this one! I enjoyed the creative setup of this story with the use of dreams/nightmares and the different types of magic, plus the main characters was interesting and compelling。 The overall plot kept me engaged and wanting to know what happened next! An enjoyable book with some really interesting and fun concepts。 The world building was a little bit sparse for me, but I realise that the book wasn't about that, and really, my perceived lack of it didn't impact the story overall。 I liked Clem, although I would have like to have seen her use her magic a bit more。 Phelan was also nice, but I'm not entirely sure why he was pining after Clem after their first meeting。 Regardless, I really enjoyed their relationship and the fact that Phelan was act An enjoyable book with some really interesting and fun concepts。 The world building was a little bit sparse for me, but I realise that the book wasn't about that, and really, my perceived lack of it didn't impact the story overall。 I liked Clem, although I would have like to have seen her use her magic a bit more。 Phelan was also nice, but I'm not entirely sure why he was pining after Clem after their first meeting。 Regardless, I really enjoyed their relationship and the fact that Phelan was actually a good guy and also interesting。 There were a few weak explanations for why things happened or why they were the way they were, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to people。 3。5/5 。。。more

Another amazing read! I enjoyed this book so much。 I really loved the idea of the story about a world that evolves around dreams and nightmares。 I myself I am a fan of dream/nightmares topic and I feel it is not use enough in fantasy books。 I loved the writing and the pacing as well as the main characters and the twist。 I really wish this have a sequel instead of being a stand alone but other than that I have no complaints。 This one was my first Rebecca Ross book and definitely not the last one。

I've only read one other Rebecca Ross book and that was A River Enchanted and I was so excited to read Dreams Lie Beneath。 While I didn't love it as much as A River Enchanted I would still give it 3 stars as I did enjoy it。I feel for me that my biggest issue was the pacing of the book。 I felt there could have been a lot more action throughout the book。 I though that with the premise of nightmares coming alive that the battle sequences against the dreams would be more intense and I felt the actio I've only read one other Rebecca Ross book and that was A River Enchanted and I was so excited to read Dreams Lie Beneath。 While I didn't love it as much as A River Enchanted I would still give it 3 stars as I did enjoy it。I feel for me that my biggest issue was the pacing of the book。 I felt there could have been a lot more action throughout the book。 I though that with the premise of nightmares coming alive that the battle sequences against the dreams would be more intense and I felt the action didn't really hit until the last 100 pages of the book。 The last 100 pages was honestly probably my favorite part of the book as that is where all of the action was packed and where all the important and plot heavy events started to occur。 It was also where the most interesting facts of the story came about, aside from the history of the curse, which I found incredibly interesting and enjoyable, and that is sprinkled throughout the book。 I wish I had gotten to read more about the mythology of the curse and what the land in the mountains was like before the curse instead of reading about the few nightmares they had to face as they just weren't as interesting。I also feel the relationship between Phelan and Clem was just okay。 I personally wish there had been more development with their relationship as it felt very surface level throughout the story。 To me their interactions were a little lackluster and it didn't feel as if they really liked one another and I didn't feel they had a lot of chemistry between them。Overall, I really liked the premise of the book and it was a good read, I just wish it had given more on the battling nightmares aspect and the curse and that there was more development in the relationship。 。。。more

This was a really enjoyable YA fantasy。 So glad it was a standalone instead of needlessly padding it out into a trilogy like so many of these books are。It had lots of interesting twists and turns, intriguing characters, and decent world building。

4。5 starsSuch a great book! Would have been 5 stars but as an audio, the narrator wasn’t that great on differentiating the voices when characters were conversing。 So sometime Anna would say something in her regular feminine voice and then there would be the masculine voice that’s been used for mostly Phelan so I would think it was Phelan talking, only to find out it was Anna speaking still! This is Young Adult/Fantasy。 A magician and his daugher get ousted from their town and have to scrape a new living together。 I liked the MC, Clementine, in this one。 She was impetuous but she was also fearless。 She was a great mix and true to her age。 I can always appreciate that。 At times this one was slow going and the obligatory romance was like a neon sign, but sweet。 Overall, I liked this one。。。。I just didn't love it like so many others have。 So 3 stars。 This is Young Adult/Fantasy。 A magician and his daugher get ousted from their town and have to scrape a new living together。 I liked the MC, Clementine, in this one。 She was impetuous but she was also fearless。 She was a great mix and true to her age。 I can always appreciate that。 At times this one was slow going and the obligatory romance was like a neon sign, but sweet。 Overall, I liked this one。。。。I just didn't love it like so many others have。 So 3 stars。 。。。more
